Barrhead Country Quilters invites one and all to their annual quilt show on April 28 and 29, 2017.Barrhead quilt show

 Edmonton Festival of Quilts

It is only a little over 3 months until the, Edmonton and Districts Quilters’ Guild Festival of Quilts show!  Please mark June 3-4th on yourcalendar. This will not just be a quilt show, but also a birthday celebration with a special Canada 150 quilting category.

We all know quilting has a long history in Canada that dates back to the earliest arrival of settlers. The ability to quickly stitch warm bedding was essential for survival. While not be an issue of survival today, a beautiful quilt to cuddle in, or grace walls,  continues to bring comfort and delight to many today and hopefully for future generations.   With this in mind there will be special activities, that while of interest to the already addicted stitchers and fabric collectors, we hope they will also inspire the next generation of quilters.   In addition to the vendors market, there will be a special members market, so you can purchase hand made goods to enjoy well after the show. Maybe a gift for a friend or even the purchase of one or more of our premade 9 patch maple leaf blocks with inspire (with your help of course J ) a next generation quilter.

And don’t forget to purchase raffle tickets for the charity quilts that support the “Win House” and “Make a Wish” charities.

Looking forward to seeing you,  Yvonne Bilan-Wallace  (communications coordinator for the Edmonton Festival of Quilts)
